Specifically designed for smaller framed youth, the Youth Neck Support works by having the helmet and support frame provide an alternative load path for excessive energy compressing the neck. If the helmet is in contact with the neck support at the time of impact, the total load going through the neck can be reduced, which can prevent a fracture and reduce the chance of muscle injury due to extreme head movement. While it is not possible to eliminate the risk of any type of injury, the support has been shown to help reduce more severe damage and minimize the risk of collateral injury as the impact load is diverted away from the neck.
